how come it ask me to format my flash drive everytime i connect it to pc?

i recently purchase a new flash drive, but everytime i plug it in, it always ask me to format it.. sometimes i have to pull it out, plug it back in and do it several times over until it works fine.. this is really frustrated (even though it isnt a big deal)

why is that happening?
 
youre probably using Vista...

If you simply yank it out, before clicking on "Safely remove USB Drive" in the taskbar - Vista will tell you this everytime you re-insert it.
