How come car chassis are connected (grounded) to the negative pole of the battery?

Aren't electrons the charges that really flow?, so doesn't it mean that anybody who touches the body of the car gets shocked?, explain please!
 
can you imagine not doing that? You would have to run direct ground wire to everything.Instead a ground wire is attached to body instead of running all the wa to battery For lights radio etc.unless you can put your tongue on both terminals simultaneously you won,t get shocked.
