Without some documentation from you I'd have to say I don't believe your statement.
However, if it is true, I would guess that it's because atheists don't have to deal with the "thou shall not kill" issue. Especially when the enemy, in their mind, are just another bunch of d**n theists.

Tell us who "they" are and how they conducted the survey. I find it hard to believe that the military would actually care.
