How can you tell the religion of an author?

Somtimes reading reviews of some authors you see that they changed their writing style when they converted to Catholicism, or Protestantism, or that "religion played an important role in their books". People like George Orwell, Graham Greem, C.S.Lewis, Anthony Burguess, etc.


I wonder how can anyone detect that kind of details???
 
What kind of morals do they have? And where are there allusions from? Jo Rowling uses a lot of allusions and morals from the Bible, and she grew up in a Christian church.
