How can you tell if your mountain bike shocks are adjustable?

The forks have 'dials' on the top, but they might just be caps...

also, how do you lubricate your front suspension... it's a basic bike, i'm probably gonna get a new one, but until i do, how do i lubricate my shocks?

You really do not need to lubricate your shock or even worry about it but if you must then get some Tri-flow oil and a few drops on the stanchions is all you need right down to the rubber sweeps on the stanchions and let it soak in. Wipe off the excess and youre done. Other than this you do nothing, ride the bike and leave it alone since youre getting a new bike anyway.

If it's a basic bike it wont have adjustable shocks. Some of the low end shocks will have a preload adjustment and it will be on the right side and will have a knob.
