how can you make a fish tank interesting?

i wanted to start a new fish tank here sometime soon, and i remember reading anotehr post saying about getting different things to make them more interesting.

so what can u do to make a fish tank more interesting? what i read was like getting different fish, and smaller things like shrimp or something, and then having all that different stuff u can just watch how they all go through their days and help contribute to the tank in w/e ways they do (kinda like a mini ecosystem i guess?)

before i used to just get goldfish, id like something more interesting though and with different varities of sea life
 
i really like salt water tanks. i watch my boyfriends fish all freaken day!!! and they are prolly more pretty than the other fish you can get
 
Apart from having fish, you can get shrimp or different looking fish such as algea eaters and loaches.
Theres also live plants, ornaments, coloured gravel and backgrounds to add colour to your tank.
but be sure you dont over crowd the tank...

I have a well planted tank with differnt colours and leaf sizes which creates the feeling of a natural enviroment

then make an Amazon River tank, full of plants , drift woods and acidic water.

fresh water fish like angel fish and discus.

school of fishes and anything according to your own taste..
