How can you increase biodiversity?

So...There's a group of trees at school, and I was wondering how you could increase the biodiversity (number of different species)?
Not just trees. I mean stuff like dandelions, daisies, grass, so plants in generel rather than just trees.
By increasing it, I mean like giving them more light, and warmth, but what else could you do?
 
Naturally... nothing.

You could plant a greater variety of trees if you really want to increase biodiversity but you should stick to only native trees and those that will do well in the site provided, otherwise more trees would be growing there naturally anyways.
