How can you find out what model your 1981 Yamaha 650 is?

How can you find out what model your 1981 Yamaha 650 is? is it stamped on the frame someplace or do I have to look online someplace?

If you look on the steering neck of the frame where the fork pivots, you should find the VIN numbers as well as the date of build. Normally the model number will be followed by the individual serial number. For example, on my bike it says something like KZ1000E12345678.
