How can we stop our neighbors from flicking their ashes at our door?

we live in a apartment. and we have neighbors that smoke constantly smoking by our door and one of them is constatly flicking ashes on our side. Their are times we have caught them flicking ashes on our side. they have a ash tray by their door but we never see them use it expect for when they put their butts down in the ash tray and go back inside. We have contact our landlord but their not doing nothing about. We are afaird one these days the ashes is gonna start a fire because our pourch is all carpet and we would have no way out What should we do? we live in the state of az.

my neighbor's house burned down because people flicked ashes on a couch on their porch at 3am. take a picture of a house burning down, and then a picture of a cigarette, put it on a piece of paper, briefly explain your concern, and then tape it to their door. then ask them if they have renter's insurance (which you should look in to as well)

Use your leafblower to clean off the porch while they are out trying to smoke. There isn't a really good answer, except that I doubt your carpet will catch on fire from an ash.

Make sure there isn't a communication problem. Be sure the other tenants understand that you don't want the ashes all over the porch. They may have thought you just meant the butts. If they seem like nice people but you just can't get them to use an ashtray, this may be the problem. If it isn't, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.
