How can the earth be 6000 years old if there are civilizations older than that...

the 6 creative days in Genesis were not 6 24-hour days. the bible talks about days many times as periods of time. (in the lord's day, he's not going to be here for 24 hours and leave.) in this case, it's 6 periods of time, possibly billions of years each.

Not all creationists are YEC, Jehovah's Witnesses for one are certainly not. The earth is obviously a lot older than 6,000 years more like many millions of years old.

Some faiths interpret the creative days as year figures but we rather more precisely interpret days as being creative eras each being millions of years as evidence suggests.
