Patriot Act at the same time? Some time ago, the government granted itself power to spy on your phone calls and e-mails, search your home without a warrant, and hold you under arrest without any formal charges in an undisclosed location whilst torturing you.

And yet somehow, a government-run health option would give them too much control over our lives? THAT is where the line of totalitarianism is drawn?
Well, some of you are right about one thing...it won't cost you a dime in tax dollars to be spied on and/or kidnapped by the government. Horray?
mopar Mike, you are truly an irrational, hate-filled individual. "Liberals make up the majority of sexual deviants". In a discussion about terrorism policies. Really?

you assume that all of us are under surveillence and we are not. if it is the govs job to protect its citizens, we have to either be proactive or reactive. there are checks and balances and every tap is seen by more than group to verify its value. plus, the patriot act does not cost us trillions of dollars.
 
We can still love our country - that is the earth beneath us! We can still defend and protect ourselves from foreign terrorists and invaders, but we don't need a corrupt Administration's consent to do that!! History may very well repeat itself! We can oust this vermin like we did in King Georges time!! We can reinstate our Constitution, and restore our liberties!!! The Lady of Liberty is still standing proudly in New York Harbor, or have people forgotten about her and everything she stands for!

The same people who oppose government in their lives are the same people who favor the US government telling US citizens who they can and cannot marry. Or who favor the US government making laws telling women what medical procedures they can or cannot have even if their lives are at stake or even if the child will be still born or was the product of rape or incest.

As of now, CORPORATE BUREAUCRATS make the Medical decisions of most Americans, not Doctors or even Americans themselves. How exactly does that work out to be better for you? Support HR 676!!

EDIT: I think the assumption that it "doesn't cost anything" to be spied on is absolutely wrong! Surveilance equipment costs money, you have to have agents to interpret data and to watch/ listen to recordings and that all costs the taxpayers money.
