You can throw all the money in the world at the education system but that is not going to change the way parents are. In one local public school over 1/3 of the children may not graduate. When the 75 parents were sent letters home, only 5 parents responded.

How can any amount of money solve the main problem.....parents.

When parents don't care, that puts more of a burden on the educational system to try to make up for the difference. It is possible to achieve that, as well as to reach out to and try to motivate those parents, but it takes a great deal of effort. If you simply give up on so many of our children, that does not auger well for the future of our country.

best question of the day zaza...too bad the offending parties are going to get mad and call you names ( like children ) instead of facing the truth.

Do you really expect anyone to except the facts? We live in a culture of blame and irresponsibility. No one has the guts to own up to their own faults...they rationalize their bad behavior by pointing out the bad behavior of others. The find moral equivalency in the lack of morals in others to justify their own bad behavior or lifestyle.....

Basically we live in a culture of children who never grew up......

you have a very valid point.

I think lots of children think there parents are MTV, they blame the teachers for discipline problems.

getting parents involved, the only way I can see is incentives (sad but true, have to bribe them)

more programs, you would be surprised how many schools don't have the programs that used to bring parents to the schools, like music, arts, science fairs. those used to be things that parents would go to the schools to see. but they don't have those. so maybe if we spend money on those programs, we can get the kids and parents involved.

what parent can resist seeing there child in a play onstage, or his science project, or first concert.

just some ideas.

Because he's going to increase spending and do things differently.

Now that we have that cleared up...
