How can Jeff Gordon not be the best racecar driver racing in Nascar currently?

By "best" I mean, the one with the most accomplishments. And that would have to be Jeff Gordon. And, I asked this question because I recently saw another one that asked "Who is the best driver in Nascar?" and all the answers that were Jeff Gordon were rated poorly. Why did people rate them the way that they did? I thought the period of hating Jeff Gordon was over!
Yeah, and I was going to say that. Lenny D, would you please explain why you don't think Jeff Gordon is the best driver? He is 1st in points......just a thought.

Yep i didn't like jeff gordon in the past but i like him now. He is going to be good this year. he is working out and has his family life in order now and can concentrate on racing. He has a great sponsor and crew chief. Kyle bush is a great driver but he has to mature a lot yet, he still acts like a little hot headed kid. Mark Martin is a great driver and gives every race 100% but he is on his way out. I think nascar is getting more cars that are competitive which creates great nascar viewing.

Jeff is from California, die hard Nascar fans don't like drivers that are not from the southeast

If we are going on past accomplishments then yes he has the most total wins and championships. If we are going to rate him over the past 4-5 years then no he is not the best. Jimmie Johnson has more wins and three straight championships. I am a huge fan of both drivers so I am not hating on Gordon at all. Just giving my two opinions on accomplishments.
Yes, Gordon is first in the points right now, but you have to wait until the season is over and total up wins between the two and see if one of them wins the championship.

People are Jeff Gordon haters probably because their jealous that Jeff has accomplished more than any current driver.

Well if your best means most accomplishments, then yes statistically, he has more wins and championships than anyone in the field. And yes while currently the points leader, he is the best driver in Nascar at this time. He has been more consistent than anyone and if Daytona would have finished all its laps, then he could very well have four top tens in four races. He is also the only driver to lead every race so far. So yeah, there is no argument that he IS the best at this time and in my opinion, the G.O.A.T.

I love Jeff Gordon and I think, being he has the points lead and has not won a race, he is consistently better that he other drivers. JR Nation doesn't like Jeff because he continually outshines their star. Don't get me wrong, I am not a Jr hater, I just don't see what the big deal is with him. What has he done that makes him a great driver? Not much as far as I can tell.

GO JEFF!!

Face it, a lot of people just don't like Jeff Gordon. It could be the whole messy divorce thing after his "special relationship with GOD" commercials.

But looking at sheer numbers of current active drivers, I believe he would be the vest "ranked" driver.

Even though I don't really like him he has accomplished more then anybody else racing now, except for maybe, well can't think of anybody else. Was gonna say Mark Martin but he doesn't even have a championship, so yea you're right.

You said currently..................make up your mind

"Currently", he is not.................Sorry

I believe Jeff is the best current driver in NASCAR as far as all-time stats. He has more wins and titles than any other driver in the field right now. But the question is probably asking who is the best driver based on recent success. That could be Jimmie Johnson, who has had 3 titles and 40 wins since 2002. Jeff has had 23 wins since '02. Yet he is the points leader right now. I don't see why he was rated poorly, though. Everyone has a right to voice their own opinion. I thought the period of hating Jeff was over as well, but I'm fine with it as long as it means Jeff is in the hunt for the championship this year.
