how can i watch live cable tv and local channels on my laptop?

Can i watch like the syfy channel live and Spike TV live as well as all my local channels on my laptop. and if so how?
if i get a usb tv tuner for my laptop, do i get cable channels or just local?
 
you can't unless htat channel has live streaming like the nfl channel does.
there aren't any sites which have live broadcast except some which are a fee based site.

fyi, fancast and hulu aren't live.
as for a tv tuner card/dongle, you still need an antenna or cable service....
