How can I use the Facebook and Myspace applications on my Blackberry Curve 8310?

I downloaded these two apps when I got my Blackberry Curve but when I try to log on it says:
"Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try again later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support." Any ideas ?
 
This is because something may be wrong with your data service.

Before you get on the phone and ask questions, I'd advise pulling out the battery, and putting it back in, and then trying these applications again.
