How can i talk my dad into letting me have a bike.?.?

Im 17, i used to race dirtbikes im responsible in school, never got into wreck or got a speeding ticket, and im paying for the bike i want. I dont like to speed on motorcycles cause i have already been in one with my dad on his Honda Valkerie. Can anyone help me on the pros and the cons of having a bike at my age. Be honest, i wont get mad. Thanks for everyone thats being honest.
 
not sure about insurance requirements for someone your age, if it is mandatory then coverage could be quite pricey, perhaps check into that...the main plus to the motocycle is that they get great gas mileage (heck some of those ninjas get like 70-80 mpg)

and i doubt your dad is worried that you will speed around like a maniac or race...he is worried that some idiot in an SUV will plow right through you because the driver is busy text messaging on his phone...

another con could even be people you know, people find out you just bought a sweet bike someone might try to steal it, hey it is a paranoid thought but i have seen it happen alot
