How can i take 1 picture and put on on another on GIMP2?

I am trying to change a picture of miley and her dad and a picture of Nick jonas.i tried cutting mileys dad out but that didnt work out well then i tried cuttin nicks head out and putting it on mileys adas body..it worked it just is too BIG! it wasnt that big in the photo and it wont shrink.what can i do
