I did not know that my oil was leaking from the engine. I drove about 10 miles from my house when the check engine light came on. Then all of the sudden I heard a loud screaching noise, kind of like tires skidding, and then my car shut off. There was no smoke, or oil dripping/splattered. When I tried starting the lights dimmed and it made the same buzz noise it makes when the battery is dead. Once jumping the car and trying a different battery didnt work, and concluding the alternator was fine, we saw there was no oil.

My question is what is most likely the part that I need to look at and fix. I dont know much about engines, but I'm very good at figuring stuff out and fixing it, I just need a little help. No way in hell I'm wasting my time with a shop. If i cant get it i'll just junk it. Im thinking the reason the engine isnt making any noise when I try to start it is that something must of snapped and is probably jammed. Any ideas?

Engine seized. It's wrecked. Either get a new engine or a new car.

The part that's "jammed" is the actual piston, frozen against the cylinder wall.

You have to replace the engine. It's like "YOU" losing all of your blood, and the doctors trying to pump blood back into you. Your internal muscles stop working. Trash the engine.
