How can I remove soap residue from my fish tank?

like this other person told you... RINSE, RINSE, RINSE with water. It's not a good idea to use soap because even a tiny amount of it left could harm the fish since they soak in anything in the water, even a minuscule soap molecule.
 
i had a beta fish in a small fish tank and i cleeaned it out with soap...I was not aware that soap was very harmful to fish, now my fish died and i want to purchase another one but am afraid that there is still soap residue on the tank. what can i do to remove it for good and have the tank safe for my new fish?
 
vinegar and hot water, then rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse. And rinse some more.

Next time, just wash with baking soda or salt (make it like a paste by adding just a bit of water, then rub it and it will scour away the slime). Then rinse a LOT.

follow the first answer the more you scrub the cleaner it will be and safer but you really can not rinse it enough times just keep rinsing
