How can I regain my motivation for a course I'm not enjoying?

I'm in my second year in college and I'm finding it very hard to motivate myself. I hate going into classes in the morning and am finding the subjects so boring. I finished year one and did very well with marks into the late 80's and 90's (distinctions basically).

This year is another story though. I'm continuing to do very well and topping the classes in some exams but I'm finding it all so boring. I used to love the subject matter of my course (administration) but now i'm in the second year i've noticed i'm beginning to despise it.

All I seem to hear is tutors going on about a very high standard we need to maintain and this isn't helping as I've always been one that hates comparisons to other people.

I'm only doing this course to give myself a chance in the recession we're experiencing,

Has anybody ever gone through this before or does anybody have any ideas how I can enjoy this boring course? In the past I would have aimed for the 90's and that would have been an achievement but now I'm trying to figure out what I can afford a pass grade in and what is the easiest way of scoring a 80% so I can relax for the rest of the subject.....Please help!!!

Maybe you can consider Administration as a minor. You probably have enough classes for a minor, by now. Drama is a favorite major of law schools. Communication is very similar to a psychology major, and it might open doors in the business world or the news media world.

Yes, I went through this, myself. I ended up taking a 30 year break before finishing my degree. Get yourself into something that enthuses you and your talents, now. What is easy for you at school and fun? Ask your fellow students what their majors are like and ask them to describe the learning experiences in the classes. That might spark your memories of previous likes and successes in other fields.

I am a senior in college and have experienced this many a time. Most of the classes I experienced this in had to do with one of my majors. So I am completely with you. My way of dealing with it was determining what my goal was. Why am I in college? Is it to learn and be well-rounded? Is it to have fun? My own personal motivating factor was to try to get summa cum laude or magna cum laude. So I had to force myself to try in these classes that I absolutely couldn't stand because it was a part of my ultimate goal. I started to take it one step at a time and make little challenges for myself. Okay, I am going to get a 95 on this next test no matter what...this thinking forced me to learn the material and also to keep achieving what I had set out to in the first place. On the other hand, achieving high grades is not going to happen for everybody. Just because you have taken a class, doesn't mean you are ultimately going to enjoy it or do well in it and that's ok. I, myself, am a writing tutor at my college, and I see so many people get down on themselves because they feel they can never live up to the standards, but that isn't what college is about. College is about learning all you can, even if while learning it's boring and may not get you the highest grade point average. As long as you try your hardest, you can't go wrong. If you end up not enjoying any of the courses that are required for your major, than maybe administration isn't for you. Find what you love and stick to it, because doing something you don't enjoy for the rest of your life is not worth it.
