How can I prove to a judge that the automated phone service had a glitch and

ignored my court date extension? I called the automated phone service for the court system to extend my court date for a fix-it ticket and thought everything was fine until two weeks later i was sent to collections for $850 for a failure to appear because the phone system must have had a glitch. I got an extension date, but no conformation number of any kind. I have a court date to explain this to a judge but I feel like I shouldn't go in there empty handed with nothing but an excuse. Any ideas on what I can do?
