My graphics card has an hdmi spot, so does my tv.

I plugged them together, turned on my computer. Set it to the right hdmi port, waited while it connected, and then it said nothing was plugged in.

Where do I go from here?

depends on if you want mirrored image or extened desktop..

right click on desktop and one of the options should be your graphics card and click on it... then in the menu there should be a multiple monitors option... and when in there click either mirrored or extended view. it should work then

also you might want to adjust the resolution by again right clicking on the desktop and this time clicking properties then display then there should be a resolution slider and all the way to the right should be the highest setting so start there and work your way back left if it doesnt work..(click apply when testing resolution then ok when you find the right one)

make sure your tv input is set to the HDMI port while you do this so that it can send the signal. When i first used HDMI on my laptop it didnt work but when i changed the tv input first, my laptop showed me some options for dual screens. If you already did this, go to control panel, adjust screen resolution, and click on the second screen, then click extend the desktop onto this monitor. If this doesnt work then you might have a faulty cable.
