How can I meet college-aged people in a new city?

I came back from my college for the summer to a new city. I didn't know a single person within 40 miles besides my mom.

I've been taking a walk in the park nearly every day but I just don't see people my age. I've seen maybe one or two girls my age running, but what do I do say, "hey stop! Want to be my friend?"

I have a job at a local cafe but that hasn't really worked that well - I pretty much just serve the people I want to meet, and there are really just one or two people there my age.

Even if I did know someone I live outside the good parts of the city so I wouldn't have any idea what to do with anyone. I also have asthma and need arm surgery so I can't play sports.

Any advice??? Thank you for your help.

lol Im frustrated for you! What you need to do is find the hot spots in town. Like clubs, the movies, the mall. And I know you were joking by walking up to someone your age and talking to them but suggest it. Who better to know where the young people hang out in a town then a young person!

Good luck!

Try Facebook or Myspace .. they are social tools .. look up ur town and start finding poeples

I am on the same exact boat as you amigo..in fact a lotta people are...just take time with family or maybe you have neighbors that you could be friends with? Just think of this time as away from the chaos of college and when you get back you'll have so much adventure that you'll miss family, so do stuff with family.
