how can i manage with outdoor ad resolution?

Hi, im working on some outdoor projects, but it seems the larger the image the harder i manage with it. they're in CMYK mode, usually every psd file takes more than 40M space and my PS cs3 runs badly.
is there any better ways to deal with the huge outdoor images?
