How can I make my brother care about his education more?

He's 15 (I'm 18) and a dumb freshmen that I wanna just take his dumb head and knock some sense into it. I don't want him to come to his jr/sr year and be like "I screwed up my GPA to smoke weed... I'm an idiot." He smokes weed and ciggerettes and to be honest I don't care about that, I care that he doesn't care about school!! He skips as much as possible, has to go through credit appeal and hasn't even started to do the community service he needs to do to get it over with, he doesn't have any plans after high school, he doesn't want to go to college, what the hell can I do to make him care!?!?!? I just want to take his dumb head and tell him he's being an idiot!! He's more intelligent then I am but my grades are like 5 times better and he's not using his intelligence and its like he's wasting his life and he just makes me so flippin' mad!! GAHHH!!!

im an 8th grader and just tell him that without being educated he won't be able to amount to anything. my big brother is going through that smoking and skipping school so i know how it feels sometimes we just gotta let them fall on their asses before they get a wake up call. btw my brother is a sophomore

That sucks. Weed and other drugs screw up you mind so badly. He probably has some crappy friends that lead him everywhere. To make him care more, though you don't care about it, got to take him off weed and away from his friends. He's probably the guy that does weed to seem cool, to show off to the friends. The mind is the easiest to be corrupted by weed and friends at that age, your judgmental part of your brain develops last and finishes around 21. Sometimes your going to have to sacrifice your brother liking of you for a decade, but in the end, he will thank you for doing it.
