How can I make my backpack smaller?

I hate how big my backpack is. But I need everything I put in it, how can I make my backpack look smaller?
 
okay if you have a binder with stuff you don't use take out the stuff that you use and then put it in a folder and your going to have to live with the text books or if you can try to do your homework early and put them in your locker if you have one if you do than do that
