I just got a used 2005 1500 dodge 3.7liter V6 with only 44,000 miles on it and i was never really that interested in cars and trucks as much as i am now. I was wondering how i can make this engine run faster or more efficient without buying a different truck or getting an engine swap. I keep being told that cosmetics is all i need but i would rather have a truck that runs faster rather than one that one that looks better. I am willing to put as much time and money as i can into it and any help would be appreciated.

You're not going to be able to make the truck that much faster with a V6. It would indeed but much more efficient to just trade it in on a V8, would save money, etc. That doesn't mean you CAN'T make the V6 faster, just will take more money for the same results. That being said:

To go straight for the gusto, a supercharger, turbocharger, or nitrous kit would give you a significant boost in performance. Expect $3k+ for a supercharger or turbocharger, 500-1500 for a nitrous kit. Nitrous is pretty safe these days with proper installation and use, so don't be afraid of it.

For basics, a cold air intake (K&N, etc) and a cat-back exhaust (flowmaster, magnaflow, etc) will help you out without setting you back too much. If you're really going for cheap, an E-bay CAI is usually 1/2-1/3 the price of a K&N, and most local exhaust shops will save you some bucks over a pre-built cat-back. There's also a programmer/chip, gears, and a torque converter swap.

diablo chip will f shit up on the street there expenisve as hell tho ram airs or a turbo kit which is really expensive add a exhaust an engine works on how fast u get air in an out so get the right exhaust they should be able to tell u what will work best theyll prlly tell u freaken flowmaster like everyone else ur gonna need a new clutch to if u make it faster if its a standard if not ur screwed cuz ur trani will blow up add new pistons and roller rockers
