How can I make my 2003 Toyota Tacoma Handle on the road better?

2003 Access Cab. When I drive it, it feels heavy, and it handles like crap. This is compared to regular cars. Do I need to get some sweet suspension, tires, and a lowering job to make my vehicle perform like a car?
 
yep its a truck and set up to be a truck you want a truck with car road manners wheels and tire's would be a start some nice struts and shocks would help you could lower it but then you get a real bad ride so instead of buying lowering springs by some sway bar's
 
dump it ,get a chevy,you will feel the difrents when your girl friend says lets go to the grocery store and get some food you will no were to put it
