whatever program I need)? how do I make those kinds of curves and glossy reflections/etc. I would really like to know how to ake t hem since they would make really cool backgrounds :)

That picture looks like someone took a picture of fire-stained glass and warped it a bit... you can do the same thing with a picture like this:
