Transfer your collage to Paint then save.
Then go to your saved image, then right-click, then Set as Desktop Background.

Edit:
To transfer to paint.
Just click on the menu "Edit"
Then choose "Select All"
Then in "Edit" choose "Copy" or press Ctrl and C at the same time.
Then go to Paint.
Then in "Edit: choose "Paste" or press Ctrl and V at the same time.

I made a collage of images in Microsoft Word to use as a background. Now that I've gotten it all set up and ready i cant figure out how to use it as my desktop background. Any one know how i set the image/images as my background

If my interpretation of what you did is correct, I have no idea why you would use MS Word as the program of choice. Your background needs to a picture, and cannot be a word document.

What you can do is do it again using a program made to do so, i.e MS Paint which is already on your computer, or commercial applications like Photoshop, ect.

I can think of two options. Print your word document as a PDF using a virtual printer like DoPDF. Then use another program to convert the PDF to a JPEG. Than, take the JPEG and crop it with paint. Once it is saved, open it up with image viewer and set it as your background.

OR- (this is easier but might not work the way you want it to) you can use the Print Screen key (usually on the upper right corner of your keyboard. This is will copy a snapshot of your entire screen. If you have the file open, you can capture some of it. Than, paste that in paint, crop to only the picture and save. Set as background.
