I dont mean a real car. i mean like a craft kind of car. like some fun to do as an arts and crafts project. please help!

the simplest version that will involve him at all stages --
ask him to draw a car - any model he likes - on a paper or on a cereal box card, etc. Let him also color it. if he can, allow him to cut it out. [but cut out the wheels, since you will be adding that separately].
use this as a template to outline on another sheet & cut this out too. now you have 2 pictures of the same car. take 2 skewer sticks, & peirce through wheels at both ends [you can use cardboard rounds for wheels or actual wheels from an old broken toy, etc.]. roll some tape around the stick at both ends of the wheels so that it will allow free movement of wheels without fear of them coming out.
now tape these wheeled sticks to the 2 car cutouts. if you like, you can add a roof, etc. to the car using a piece of fabric or paper.
this is a simple Working model of a car that even a 5-year old can make with a little guidance.
once you have this right, make different models & try to race them :-))

you can also make a papier mache model. this will be more sturdy & durable but wil take a few days to dry completely.

or try origami models. you can google to find sites that have instructions for paper cars.

have fun :-)
