How can I learn horse management and grooming if we don't learn it at my stables?

In my stables once you know how to groom, muck out and tack-up you can help out. I know how to un-tack 'cause we do that after the lesson, but how do I learn to do all these things? I know how to groom from you-tube and other sites, but my riding school doesn't know that. I don't really want to move schools. Please help!!!

Well, go and look at several other schools around you and see if they will let you volunteer and if they run courses and you could go to those schools for stable management courses and stick to your own school for other things or go on a riding holiday where you look after your own horse/pony for the week and learn all kinds of things about first aid, grooming, mucking out, tack cleaning, shoeing, plaiting etc etc and so forth!

You do not say how old you are so I cannot be specific.

Can you ask someone to teach you where you are at the moment? I am sure they would be happy to have an extra set of hands and you could probably tag along and watch someone else go through their routine and pick up tips. The best way to learn is to get in there and do it. Maybe your parents could talk to the owners and let them know you are really keen to learn more and help.

Good luck hope all works out well :)
