How can I know if guys really want to talk to me or I'm just a joke?

Okay, for some background info, I'm a sophomore in high school, a cheerleader, all AP/4.0GPA student and I don't drink, do drugs or party. I also have have little experience with guys yet, I haven't had my first boyfriend or first kiss yet. None of my fellow cheerleaders like me because I'm a "goody-good" and I'm not very popular. I have some good friends but the social life of a "goody-good" is sadly very limited.

Call me a loser, nerd or prude all you want but I'll have the last laugh when I don't destroy my life; I will be successful and happy.

Anyway, I may sound like a nerd, but on the outside I look completely like the stereotypical dumb blonde popular girl. My personality contradicts my looks...but I'm not conceited. So guys are interested in me until they find out I "don't do anything". I know there's probably lots of great guys out there, I just haven't met one yet!

I get a good amount of male attention and when it's from guys that don't go to my school, I know its sincere. However, at school its different! Most of the populars don't like me, only because the cheerleaders I used to be friends with lie about me and tell them to be mean. I'm verbally bullied by many.

When guys flirt with me at school I know for sure some of them are just making fun of me. Random guys compliment me or talk to me much more than in previous years. It could be because honestly, I'm better looking now, awkward stage was middle school and well, this is stereotypical but more guys have flirted with me ever since I, well became extremely blessed, if you know what I mean.

They're like "Hi cutie" "Hey beautiful" "You look good today" and all that stuff... And when they just start up conversations, or message me on facebook.

I don't want to be the result of a cruel joke. It happens to nice girls all the time. It's sad, I'm afraid I'm going to be one of those stories like in movies when the popular guy invites the nerdy girl to the dance and then embarrasses her in front of the entire school! How can I know if these guys are for real or just jerks? I don't want to pass up what could be a future relationship or good friend. But I feel I need to be cautious. It scares me, I don't know why people feel the need to act this way! I know some of them are talking to me as a joke because they go and laugh about me to their friends after, or I hear the other cheerleaders talking... I hear it all. It's hurtful. Oh, and guys have also written me fake love notes in class.

Sometimes I just want to disappear. I know I don't have it bad as some people, but I'm getting sick of just going to school, minding my own business and people still target me everyday as a source of entertainment.

Am I overreacting?? And what should I do about all these jerks? :/ Sorry this was long...

High school is not the end of your life. I repeat: High school is not the end of your life.

High school is weird for everyone, popular and not included. It really only exists to acclimate you to the real world.

Try responding to their advances, and if they laugh at you call them "a bunch of wizened dicked bitches" and move on. The way I sense it though it doesn't seems like they are not toying with you.

Sometes the teasing could be designed as a way of guilting you into doing what they want. If you are as you say, and you stay that way, chances are you'll do quite well and get into a good school afterwards. In all honesty I found high school to be a joke (even academically in some sense). College is were it's all at. Stay grounded. Thankfully high school goes by fast.
