How can i keep chickens off my garden.?

Someone else's free range chickens scratch around my garden and often dig up my plants. I cannot fence in the
whole garden so that's not an option.
I throw things at them when i see them but they seem to have worked out when i'm not around and come a scratching, usually while I'm at work.
 
talk to the person that owns the hens it is their responsibility to make sure that they are not wandering on to other peoples land. they should pay to fence in the birds
.Hens are not the brightest of birds and will not get the message to stay away just because you throw things at them.
