How can I install a MIDI driver without software?

My choir director gave me his old MIDI to USB converter so I could help him arrange music, but my computer won't recognize it for use without installation. How can I get my computer to recognize it if it doesn't have an installation disk? It's a midiman brand, but I'm not sure what the name of the product itself is.
