I have a Dodge 1500 with a v6 engine, my friends and i go out to a private straight away every other weekend, my truck tops out at 105 now, what can i do to increase that and how much will it help
thank you

push the pedal further. no but really a v6 1500 isnt really made to go over 105 ... its a truck not a nascar if you want a little more top speed buy a cold air intake or look up throttle body spacers, the intake should add around 5 hp and the spacer can add 10 to 25 hp

Seriously, I get the distinct feeling that I'm going to read about you on the back page of my newspaper one day.
100+ mph in a 1/2 ton pick up truck? Why not just play on the thruway blindfolded?

Is it being topped out by a governor? If so, take the governor out. Otherwise, like the first poster said that vehicle isn't made to go fast. You could throw a bunch of money at it but the return on your investment won't be that great. If you want to go fast, it would make more sense to buy a bargain sports car like a Mustang 5.0 or Firebird Trans Am.

If you change the ring and pinion to a taller gear you,ll get more top end...Say you got 4;11 gears now. Then you install 3;73 or smaller number then you,ll go faster..But you,ll lose your off the line power..I had 2.something in my gtx..It just would not spin the wheels(burnout).I pulled the rear end and put in 3;73.Now she,ll really move. With the taller gears it seemed to want to run forever...I had it up to 130 mph and there was still more!!!!I like the 3;73 better..
