I'm a junior in a college prep high school. I take two honors classes and one AP class. My school doesn't offer a lot of AP or honors courses. I just took the ACT and will be taking the SAT very soon. By the end of the school year I will have over 250 service hours and I am involved in 5 clubs and hols an office in 2. I'm involved in the theatre program at my school too. I make A's and B's and have a 3.7 GPA. I know for sure I'm in the top 25% of my class. What can I do for the next year and this summer to improve my chances?

The average for ivies is to have about 95% of their students be in the top 10% of their classes, so if you are only in the top 25% then I would start by working on your GPA. Advancing into leadership positions with the clubs you are involved with could help too. I guess the only other thing would be to wait until you get your ACT/SAT results and always try for something better (until you hit perfect or have taken a given test 3 times. . .schools don't like to see you taking standardized tests too many times or they figure your trying to cheat the system and don't have a non test taking life). Best of luck to you
