how can i help my 2.5 yr old talk and do you think this is Autisim because i dont but...

...i know somethin is wrong? ok so my son is 33 mths old and is the oldest child he doesnt go to daycare so im just wondering he can say words and please and thank you and some 2-3 word sentences but its only when he wants too hes very smart though he can understand simple instructions, and he can say/sing the alphabet song (very unclearly tho) he knows his numbers up to 3 but im just concerend because i had him evaluated by the pathologist and she said he showed some red flags for autisim.... now the only flags i see are him not talkin properly and sometimes him taking time to answer to his name which by the way he has greatly improved on that since the pathologist visit which was when he was 28 months old. he surprises me all the time here recently he been tellin me when hes wet or has to potty he hands me his sisters bottle when shes hungry he picks up his toys with me before bed he can identify 3 body parts he loves being cuddled and stuff hes very friendly. however he gets very frustrated when trying to tell me something and i dont understand him he just started pointing to certin objects askin what is this or what is that and every now and then he says why. he knows how to identify grandparents and aunts and uncles correctly my gut tells me something is up but i really dont think its autisim by the way i took him to his ped for a developmental eval in january and he even said its not autisim because my son was curious about everything he had great eye contact with the doctor and even tried excusing himself from the room lol soo tell me what you think he will be getting a formal evaluation done soon but if anything i just think hes a little behind atleast thats what the doc said. he learns new things everyday it seems.
