He is a rott mix and was hit by a car the day before thanksgiving. He suffered some nerve damage in his left shoulder area and could even walk on that paw for a awhile. Slowly he started regaining control of the arm, but he still doesn't use the tip of his paw past the last knuckle. He's fine when he runs, but if he is walking he sometimes steps on the top side of that knuckle and it has caused a continuous open sore. I was cleaning and covering it with an ACE bandage for a while, but when it seemed like it was going to heal up he would rip open the scab and the whole thing started all over. Should I get some sort of split to keep him from walking on it? Any tips would be helpful, thanks.
Also, I've been to the vet many times and they just keep taking money and giving no results. The only advice of any value from them is amputation, but I obviously don't want to do that unless there's absolutely no other alternative.
