how can I get rid of yahoo messenger or Chat & Mobile Text, it keeps poping up

when I am in yahoo an its a pai? When I am in yahoo mail a pop up come up stating that X(name of person) wants to be my friend or join my group, as far as I know I do not have a group and I sure do not want to chat on line with yahoo
