how can I get my verizon number put on my new phone? Old one is lost?

I have an account with Verizon, but I lost my phone in a field. Today, I bought a Verizon phone from one of my friends, but I am wondering how I can get my same number on the new phone that I bought. Do I have to go in the store? Thanks!
