How can I get my puppy to quit whining when I leave the room or at night?

I leave the room and my little boy starts whining and at night we put him in a portable kennel with a teddy bear and an article of my clothing and he whines and even barks. What can I do to comfort him more at night besides putting him in bed with me, and I can't leave him out to roam because he is chewing everything and anything.

try giving him so thing other than a piece of clothing, give hime a small pillow or something, that way he can be actually think hes laying with you, when hes not. put the kennel beside the bed that way he can be close to you.

A lot of young puppies will do this, until they get comfortable in their crates, and with being away from their people.

Try to wear your puppy out a little more before bedtime. Take him for a short walk, run him around in the yard, or play a round of fetch. Make sure he gets one last potty break before bed.

See if this works for you, I did it with my puppy and it worked for us: when you put him in his crate, cover the crate with a light blanket so that he can't see out. Talk to him softly (say goodnight or whatever). Leave the teddy bear and the article of clothing inside the crate, and leave your slippers just outside of the crate door.... or even the socks you wore that day (sounds gross, I know). He won't be able to see you, but your scent just outside the door will make him feel like you are still right there. Walk away slooowly.... and don't turn back!

Good luck :D
