So my little brother is turning 10 next month and is still really apprehensive about playing sports and being active. I'm not sure if he doesn't care about sports or if he's just nervous about getting hurt. He won't even learn how to ride a bike! I played sports since I was a little kid and I still play club sports now in college. My mom asked me to get him into competitive sports and I don't know what would suit him. I recommended martial arts but I'd also like to see him play some team sports. What's the best way to do this? Let me know if you need more info.

Whatever you do, DO NOT start off with field hockey. Start with something basic yet competitive, like badminton. That can be a fun family home game, and it will get your bro to run around, hit a birdie, etc. Then maybe move on to tennis? He might not like lacrosse or something, but maybe soccer? Soccer is fun. Hmm, what else? Maybe basketball? Just introduce it to him, like get him a ball or raquet, or net, I dunno...

Get him involved in recreation leagues first, then after a couple of years let him pick his favorite or favorites to play competitively, if he wants.

Baseball
Basketball
Track
Cross-Country
Swimming
Football
Hockey
Wrestling
Soccer

There is a list of all sports ten year old boys might like....
