My family has three indoor cats, one boy and two girls, who are sisters. By normal standards, they're all big cats to begin with, but lately they've been heavier than ever, and we're having a hard time getting them to lose weight.
They eat diet food, which sits out all day. Ideally, we would portion their meals, but we have tried that. They just torment my parents until they put the food back, even if that means months of harassment.
The girls are bigger than the boy, so we think they might be genetically predisposed to being fat, but they don't exercise. They don't particularly like to play, though one will maul anything with a string on it (as long a she doesn't have to move much). Does anybody know of a way to get them to exercise besides chasing them and freaking them out? I want them to be healthy.
