Okay... My parents have recently started biking again and they're having lots of fun with it. A while ago I made my mom promise to buy and wear a bike helmet when she rode her bike and she has. But I still can't sell my dad on the idea.
He 53 years old and he has 4 reasons that he won't wear a helmet.
1) He thinks the odds of him falling off his bike and hurting his head are slim to none.
2) He has no dependents to worry about anymore so he wouldn't feel guilty if something happened to him.
3) He thinks people wearing helmets look stupid (I told him people who aren't wearing helmets look stupid).
4) He doesn't want to spend the money on one.
So what I need to know is:
Where can I find some bicycle injury statistics? He's a very smart and logical person (which is why this is ludicrous) and I think he'd respond well to negative statistics.
And what are some affordable, light, durable, and decent looking helmets?
