Well, I am working on my eagle scout award (almost there). I know that will raise me to an E-2, but What are some other possible ways? cause I want to be the best I can possibly be. Thanks =]

Oh yea, almost forgot. I am in DEP.
It is true... I talked to my recruiter and me being an Eagle Scout does raise me to an E-2... Eagle Scout awards are very hard to obtain...

The highest you can get is PFC, they no longer merittoriously promote to Lcpl in boot camp. Instead if your already a PFC and your are a guide, squadleader, or in the top 10% of your platoon you can get a Merittorious Mass. That is a certificate that helps with promotions later on.

recruit other friends or whoever to join as well. If you can get at least 2 people to join you get bumped up again. Also, college credits can bump you up as well. Talk to a Marine recruiter though not a bunch of people on yahoo.

Well in the Army we do a PT test to gain rank before shipping.Navy does that too.And if the Navy does it, Id take a safe bet and say that the Marines do it as well.Just ask your recruiter.

12 college credits will get you E2, or if you enlist like 3 people before bootcamp that'll get you E2 as well.

If you go into boot camp with PFC then all you can hope for is to get meritoriously promoted while there.

This can happen in many ways. You can be the company honor man, high pft, high shooter, most improved, squad leader, or just be awesome and hope you stick out.

DI's do not always have to promote these positions, but they very often will. The highest rank you can graduate boot camp with is E3, and that is rare.

You can not get promoted more then once while in the DEP. If you get 1 rank because of Eagle Scouts, then you can not get another rank by doing any of the things that gets one promoted while in the DEP. One rank only...

AJ, the Rank of Eagle Scout gives you a rank in any military branch. I am an Eagle Scout and have been told that by every branch of service.

EDIT-If you don't get Eagle Scout I will find out where you live and kick your ass. Right now that is the single best thing I have done in my life, and I almost decided not to get it. Once you start it you better finish it. How far into it are you? working on your service project? how long do you have until you can't get it (age wise because 18 is the cut off)
