How can I get a pre-paid SIM card *with data* in Paris?

I am traveling in Paris and trying to use my unlocked GSM Android phone. I want both voice *and* data access. I had read online that you can buy a pre-paid SIM card with data access, but I've been to both Orange and SFR stores and representatives at both stores tell me that I can't get data access on a pre-paid SIM, only voice. Is that true? Or is there something special I have to ask for?
