I have a game that is DVD-ROM, but my new computer doesn't have a DVD-ROM drive (wierd, but it doesn't).

I've been trying to copy the information off the disk on my old windows 98, put it on a flash drive, then put that on the new computer, but that's not working...can't seem to get the 98 to recognize the USB.

Anyways, is there a way I can get my DVD-ROM game to work in my new computer even though it doesn't have a DVD-ROM drive? (It only has a normal CD-ROM drive).

When I put the DVD into the new computer, nothing shows up in drive D.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Are you SURE it doesn't have a DVD drive ? Does teh drive (cd type) not say DVD anywhere on it ?

I haven't seen a PC sold in years withoug at least a DVD reader.

Could be the drive is faulty . . . . . But without a (working) DVD drive you CANNOT get it to work, games are copy protected to run from their own disc only

if you have a cd-rom u can't play dvd in it because both have different laser strength ...dvd rom are not very expensive these days ..second hand one u can get in less then $30.00 ..put it in ur computer and have fun and if u need any help in installing it ..simply IM me ..........hope it helps !!

You can do a mixture of things. The best thing in your case would be to find a computer that does have a dvd drive then rip the game using a virtuall cd (rip it as an iso)then copy that game to your first computer, and you need to find some software that will read the iso as a virtual cd drive and you are off. I am really sorry i can not tell you in more detail or give you some links its just that i am in a rush although you can contact me and i can give you some more help! I know that your problem is fixable! Or alterantivley buy a mobile dvd drive (around £50 - £80)

yea, you have to buy a dvd drive if u r going to put movies on it or something, look below or above ur cd drive, and if it is a blank hole like there is no drive in it, u have to buy one, then it will work.
