**How can I fix the ground noise and whine from my car stereo system?**?

About 4 months ago I installed a sound system on a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. about 2 weeks ago I was driving down the street and the whole system started making static noise and whining. when I hit the gas pedal I hear the noise getting louder. I know its not the stereo because i put the volume all the way down and the noise doesn't die. Does anyone know what it could be?

check your ground. make sure its on metal thats connected to the frame. make sure theres no paint or anything between the surfaces.
