How can I fix the contrast on my 52" Sony?

The picture keeps getting darker and darker.Picture a person wearing a black suit blending in with the background enough to where you cant tell the suit from the background.I tried to lighten it up with the remote pulling up the menu,but its not working.Is it a technical problem.Maybe an electronic "board" that controls the picture quality needs replacing?How would I locate that part to replace it if at all possible?There are no repair shops in my vicinity and I'd hate to throw it out.It's only 4 years old.Anyone?Help?
 
You might need to calibrate it, if you want it done professional it will cost you alot of money. They use a disc to make your picture quality perfect. This will work better with HD television sets
